Around half a year ago, Philips launched their LED bulb lineup. The ones with the B22 base topped out at 17 watt having a max brightness output of 2000 lumens. The lumens efficiency was quoted as 118. The MRP on those bulbs were around 915 INR and price now is around INR 400. I was very satisfied by the earlier product, and it was amazing for how much power it consumed. The only problem was that it was expensive. Other brands took notice of this and came out with their own bulbs which had higher wattage specification to attract customers, and it worked. People bought into those bulbs thinking that they would get better brightness but that wasn't usually the case.Fast forward 6 months or so, and you see this new 20 watt version from Philips, which is priced lesser than half the MRP of the earlier 17 watt version [915 vs 420 INR], you can get one for around 300 INR and the price is sure to drop to around 200-250 mark. They kept the lumens output the same. So if you are thinking that the 20 watt bulb will be brighter than the earlier 17 watt version, then prepare to be disappointed. On the bright side, we will certainly be able to get high output bulbs like these for 200-250 by the end of this year or so.---------------------Now to the main differences between the 17 watt version and the 20 watt version, note that I am posting these observations comparing three of these 20 watt bulbs with three of the earlier 17 watt bulbs.1. There is very little difference between the brightness of the two bulbs. If I had to pick one, I would say that the 20 watt version is slightly brighter than the 17 watt version, but it isn't as significant as the jump in wattage would suggest.2.Read more ›

This review is for the item and not for Amazon and the seller. The shipping was fast and the product was as expected. Now coming to the 20W LED bulb:My advice to folks is to NOT buy it.Reasons:1. It is bright only at one place and will not brighten a room. When I put a tube light on (40W), the whole room is lit. When I use the LED bulb, one part is reasonably lit and the rest of the room is dark.2. The 20W LED (like other LEDs) gives a different type of light and there are a lot of shadows. This is again a negative and does not give the tube light like feel.3. The light is so bright that it is like a torch being flashed at you. I was sitting on a sofa opposite the light and I could not read the newspaper because the light was like a torch flashing at my face. So I had to switch off the LED bulb and turn on the other tube light of 40W.I am giving this long review because the bulbs are expensive and I don't want people to waste their money unless they are aware of exactly what they are getting. I went to a shop near my house and saw the 20W LED tube (not bulb) and here again, the lighting of the shop was no where close to how the 40W tube light lit the shop. I guess the technology for LEDs (or design) needs to mature. For a 20W LED you are saving just 20W when compared to a 40W tube light. However, given the brightness in the room, hardly any shadows, and less strain on the eyes, my advice is to stick with the 40W tube light for now.

Utterly disappointed. Wrong shipment done. QC needs improvement. It's a waste of time and energy to follow up and with incorrect shipment defeats the purpose. As far as packing and delivery is concerned 5*.

I had ordered a 20-watt 2000 lumen bulb, but received a 17-watt 1700 lumen bulb. I bought it for my ancestral home in my hometown and noticed the difference in wattage only after I took it there - too late and too much pain to return the product. The seller in question is GoTo Style Mart. So I would advise against buying this product from them - they are quite careless! The 17-watt bulb as such is quite bright although it gets hot pretty quickly - which is okay by itself but as you might know, heat reduces the useful light of an LED - it gradually loses brightness when exposed to heat. So I am not really sure if this bulb will last as long as a typical 9-watt or lower LED bulb.
