Canon 1300D, the successor to the hugely popular Canon EOS 1200D is here. Let's compare the specs between these two and see what has changed.First of all, 1200D and 1300D are basic entrly level DSLR cameras, so DON'T expect it to come with top class high iso performance, slow motion videos features, super fast continuous shooting speeds etc. These cameras are aimed at beginners.# What's new ? #1) 1300D has DIGIC 4+ image processor that claims to give faster processing time comparing to older DIGIC 4 seem in 1200D. It also offers better high iso performance.2) Continuous Shooting speed remains the same ( 3fps ). However, it can now shoot continuous up to 1,110 jpegs images while the old one could only last 69 jpegs3) WiFi and NFC Connectivity features.4) Higher Resolution LCD display ( Not a Touchscreen )Other than the above changes, Canon 1300D and Canon 1200D remains the same. If you already own an 1200D, it is not a worthy upgrade to 1300D.Price : 29,995 for 18-55mm kit lens, Rs 38,995 for Dual Kit lens ( As of this writing ). Is this overpriced? I would have loved this selling for 25K instead of 30K.~ # April 10th Update : Now the price has come down to 25K for Single lens from Rs 29,995. # ~# Other DSLRs to Consider #Canon 700D which is priced around 32K ( Single Lens ) - 36K ( Dual Lens ) offers better and more features overall than 1300D. It is powered by Digic 5, better than Digic 4, and also comes with a touch screen. So if you can spend a few thousands more, i would highly recommend getting 700D instead of this ( if the price difference when you are buying is not that huge ).Nikon D3300, D5200, Sony Alpha A58 are some other DSLRs coming in this price range with similar specs. Also, you can buy Canon 1200D with Dual Kit lens for around 25K on Read the Certified Customer reviews there to get a better idea on what to expect from these cameras.

Canon EOS 1300D 18MP Digital SLR Camera (Black) with 18-55mm ISII Lens, 16GB Card and Carry CaseI tried to book the camera on the first day it was launched on Amazon. But it wasn't deliverable to my location(Dehradun). I rushed to the Canon showroom and also checked at some of the authorized dealers. I got the best deal at a nearby shop. Got the DSLR with 18-55 lens for 26000. I was literally scolded by my photographer friends for choosing 1300D over 700D. But I am happy with my purchase. I have saved around Rs 5000 by choosing 1300D and not 700D. Secondly, There are a few things which are better in 1300D and it's the latest offering so has the latest features added. And the using wifi is awesome while taking pics remotely.Pros:1. Light weight and very sturdy built.2. Very good picture quality.3. Firmware is very good. Camera never hangs.4. Wifi feature is very practical, one can click stills and transfer images using a wifi enabled phone.5. 16 GB card provided is an upgrade from 8 GBs provided in other canon DSLRs6. Battery is also upgraded, and provides a better backup. It lasted for around 1000 shots during a recent shoot with low flash use.7. DIGIC 4+ feels even faster than DIGIC 5 on 700D.8. Low light performance is better than 1200D.9. Buttons are placed on the right hand, layout is ergonomically very good.10. Features low pass filter for better image stabilization.Cons.1. No touchscreen.2. A little expensive, just a few thousand rupees cheaper than more potent 700D.3. No Auto focus in Video mode.4. Display screen is fixed and can not be tilted.Read more ›

Beginner photographers looking for their first DSLR, 1300D is a perfect eye candy in budget. Before the launch of 1300D, 1200D was the favorite camera for the beginners and keeping its popularity in mind Canon came with this new EOS 1300D with some minor upgrades at a little more bucks than 1200D.The features and some notable changes with this DSLR are:1. 18 megapixel sensor like the 1200D which is a decent resolution for beginners.2. 1200D came with a Digic 4 processor but for 1300D comes with a Digic 4+ processor which is not the latest processor but performs well. The latest Processor of Canon is Digic 7.3. 9AF points autofocus system which is same as 1200D.4. Optical Viewfinder with 95% coverage.5. While the 1200D had a 3-inch, 460k-dot screen, the EOS 1300D has a 3-inch, 920k-dot screen which makes a little more pleasant viewing experience.6. The biggest notable change is the introduction of two new connectivity Wi-Fi and NFC which were missing in 1200D. Now with these connectivity options you can easily share your media in between your devices.7. It supports 1080p video recording at 30, 25 and 24fps like the previous 1200D.Con's :- No 4K support which is quite popular in the market.- Less upgrades when compared to the price of 1200D.- Even the Nikon's entry level D3300 comes with 24.2 MP but this sports only 18MP.P.S. I review products on amazon to help fellow customers in taking wise decisions and try to ensure that everyone's hard earned money get its full worth. It makes my day to know that people find my reviews helpful. Feel free to mail me for any queries.
